Where is your bamboo from?
We're a UK company, but at present there is no infrastructure or bamboo supply to have a "Made in the UK” or ‘Made in the USA' paper at this time. After our in depth research, we found that China produces the highest quality bamboo grade.
We work with a local factory that was granted 30,000 square metre plot by the government to support the local bamboo production. The factory has obtained FSC 100% certification that provides the strongest guarantee that the bamboos are sustainably sourced and is also independently audited by BSCI (Business Social Compliance Initiative).
Are we swapping from one problem to another?
At present deforestation has resulted in vanishing forests and according to world bank, between 1990 and 2016, the world lost 502,000 square miles (1.3 million square kilometers) of forest, an area larger than South Africa. Bamboo as one of the fastest growing plant is helping to restore forest cover. A bamboo takes 3 years to mature as opposed to trees that take between 15 -30 years and some species of trees such as oak takes as long as 80 years. Whilst I am not ecologist, but what I can say is that from research that I have observed, trees are not being felled to make way for bamboos, instead bamboo is supplementing the lost of forest cover in many parts of the world.
Bottom line we need to wrap the TP to keep it moisture free! The total paper weight to wrap the rolls individually with thin paper versus wrapping them in bulk thick kraft paper is essentially similar We would also have to pay slightly more ( because we are a startup!) for the bulk packaging. So we opted for the cost effective and sustainable option - individual wrappers, plus they do stand out and you can easily take with them with you in your travel bag as an emergency option or if you have kids they come in very handy in the car, airplanes etc…
Are you septic tank safe?
Our bamboo toilet paper not only provides a sustainable alternative it has met the flushability test and so shouldn’t cause any problems with your septic tank. Though if you have a particularly sensitive tank, then please speak to your manufacturer whether there are anything you should be aware of.
